Vegetable cord freeze - hub or life insurance?


The possibility of freezing stem cells from the blood cord is already well known. Few people know that freezing the umbilical cord is even more useful.

Freezing the cells of the umbilical cord allows us to use the stem cells more efficiently.


The so-called Wharton jelly of the genetic cord contains stem cells that are capable of producing the most diverse specialized cells. Bone cells, cartilage cells, squamous cells, adipose cells, nerve cells, and even insulin-producing cells can also be cultured. Essentially, all types of cells in the adult human body can be formed, while retaining their self-perceived abilities. These cells, i.e., mesenchymal stem cells, increase the activity of the umbilical cord stem cells when it is used for preserved cells.

What happens to the cord?

The cut piece of cord is processed within 48 ounces of birth. Stem cells are harvested by a special procedure and then cultured in culture fluids, followed by freezing. Because the cells are multiplied in the course of the cultivation, there is no need to process the whole cord, but a minimum of 20 centimeters of cord is required for the procedure to be successful.
